ICAN Jos District Celebrates Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, for Exceptional Service and Professional Impact

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Jos & District Society, held its Dinner and Award Night at the Joshua Dariye Hall, Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos, Plateau State, where Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, PhD, FCA, Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, was honoured for his exceptional contributions to the growth and development of the district.

The event brought together members, their spouses, and distinguished guests in an atmosphere of gratitude, unity, and celebration.

In his opening remarks, the 26th Chairman of ICAN Jos & District Society, PAM Musa Chung, FCA, described the gathering as a moment of thanksgiving rather than lengthy speeches. He emphasized gratitude to God for His faithfulness and reflected on the district’s progress since its last dinner in 2019. According to him, the society has recorded notable achievements, including securing a district office, engaging government authorities, strengthening financial stability, and successfully hosting professional and social events.

He also highlighted the district’s growing influence at both zonal and national levels, as well as members’ increasing participation in public service and political leadership. The impressive turnout at the dinner, he noted, was a testament to the unity, commitment, and rising relevance of the Jos District.

Dr. Jim Pam Wayas was recognized for his consistent support, professional excellence, and dedication to the ideals of ICAN. A highly accomplished accountant with over a decade of experience in public and private sector finance, Dr. Wayas is renowned for his expertise in financial accounting, auditing, taxation, risk-based audits, and financial reporting. He possesses deep knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). Academically, he holds a PhD in Accounting from Nile University of Nigeria and is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, USA. He is a Fellow of ICAN and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, as well as a member of ACCA (UK).

Currently serving as the Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Wayas has driven far-reaching reforms that led to a historic 96 percent increase in internally generated revenue within two years. His leadership is marked by innovation, transparency, and sustainability. Beyond administration, he is an academic, mentor, and researcher committed to developing future professionals.

Receiving the award on his behalf, Wulashik Lucius Dafaan conveyed Dr. Wayas’ apologies for his absence and expressed his deep appreciation for the honour. He reaffirmed Dr. Wayas’ strong commitment to ICAN and his desire to see the Jos & District Society attain its rightful place nationally.
