Nigeria’s national electricity grid has collapsed again, causing a widespread blackout across many parts of the country on Tuesday morning.

Information from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) shows that by 11:00 a.m., power generation had dropped to zero megawatts, cutting electricity supply to all 11 electricity distribution companies across the country.

This is the second time the national grid has collapsed in just five days.

Reports also confirm that the first collapse of the year happened last Friday, January 24, 2026.

As at the time of filing this report, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Ministry of Power had not released any official statement explaining what caused the collapse or when power would be restored.
