Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi, has paid a Sallah visit to the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano State, in what appears to be part of ongoing political consultations ahead of future alignments.
Obi, accompanied by leaders of the Obidient Movement, met with Kwankwaso during the visit, with discussions said to centre on strategies aimed at national development.
Details of the meeting were shared by Dr Yunusa Tanko on his official X handle.
In the post, Tanko described the engagement as focused on “strategising for our collective interest to make Nigeria work again for all of us”.
He also appreciated residents of Kano for the reception, adding that the visit signals what he called “good things to come in no distant time”.
Shortly after the post was shared, it began to attract reactions from users on the platform with opinions sharply divided.
A user identified as MM.of.Lagos criticised the development, questioning the political direction of the Movement.
Another commenter, Olakunle Jibson expressed concern over possible alliances, while iconoclast also faulted the move, raising doubts about trust among political actors.
“Any politician that trusts Peter Obi does so at via own peril. That man has circled virtually all political parties in Nigeria. A party prostitute who enters a party, destroys their structure and hops for another. A very unstable and desperate man like Obi should never be trusted,” iconoclast wrote.
Emeka Camara in his reaction, dismissed the post saying such updates do not translate to electoral success.
However, not all responses were critical as a user Manasseh Allen described the gathering as a sign of political strength.
“It’s a show of capacity for a politician to assemble supporters in such short notice. We believe the duo can make some serious changes if elected,” he wrote.
