Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a large-scale deployment of security personnel to Jos North following the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba that claimed several lives.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the police chief condemned the killings and assured residents that decisive measures were being taken to restore peace and apprehend those responsible.
The IGP also sympathized with Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the people of Plateau State, and families affected by the incident.
As part of the response, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Shehu Nadada, has been deployed to the state to assess the situation, coordinate operations, and strengthen security arrangements.
The police high command has also reinforced security with additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives working alongside other security agencies to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, the intensified operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored, with directives issued to commanders to ensure visible policing and active engagement with communities.
The IGP urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies, while cautioning against taking the law into their own hands.
He also called on the public to provide timely information on suspicious activities to support ongoing security operations.
