Renewed Hope Progressive Winning Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society (WINWO) has launched its head office in Plateau State, with a focus on empowering women through financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Located at Mai Adiko, Rayfield, Jos, the office is expected to serve as a hub for the cooperative’s activities and provide women with access to savings, loans, skills training, mentorship and business support.
Speaking during the launch, President of WINWO, Hon. Esther Pam Hwere, said the cooperative was established to economically empower women and enable them to improve their livelihoods through collective action.
“We started as a vision to economically empower women. Now today, we have become a family and we have built a home where women will learn, earn, grow and cooperate,” Hwere said.
She explained that the initiative was established in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a focus on lifting women out of poverty through cooperative savings, access to loans, skills acquisition and business support.
Hwere said the new office would serve as a centre for women empowerment training, mentorship, business advisory services, savings, cooperative loans and support for small and medium-scale entrepreneurs.
She also disclosed that the office would serve as a mobilisation base for grassroots political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections, while urging members to utilise the platform to build wealth, strengthen their businesses and contribute to national development.
While officially flagged off the Head office on Behalf of the Plateau APC, Plateau State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Wumanna Bako Manabe, commended WINWO for the initiative, describing it as an important platform for mobilising and empowering women at the grassroots.
Manabe assured the cooperative of his support, saying efforts were already underway to strengthen collaboration between the party and support groups ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Let me advise that you do more to involve more women, especially at the grassroots. Women form a large percentage of the votes, and women are the most patient voters. Encourage them to support what the President is doing for Nigeria and what he is doing for Plateau,” he said.
The APC publicity secretary also pointed to Plateau’s growing influence in national politics, citing the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman of the APC and ongoing federal road projects in the state.
He urged members to remain committed to the APC, saying the party was focused on consolidating its presence in the state and securing support at all levels in 2027.
Similarly, Member and Treasurer of WINWO, Mrs. Elizabeth Lashom, encouraged women and entrepreneurs to join the cooperative, saying it was established to impact positively on the lives of women and help them grow their businesses.
Lashom said prospective members could begin saving with as little as N5,000 monthly, urging women to take advantage of the cooperative’s platform to build sustainable businesses and improve their livelihoods.
