The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has distributed eighteen brand-new motorcycles to councilors across the eighteen wards of the local government area, in a strategic move to strengthen grassroots governance and improve access to constituents.

The presentation ceremony, underscores the administration’s commitment to equipping elected representatives with practical tools needed to effectively carry out their legislative and community engagement responsibilities.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Tyem described the initiative as a deliberate step toward improving service delivery at the grassroots. He emphasized that mobility remains a critical challenge for many councilors, particularly in hard-to-reach communities, and noted that the motorcycles will significantly ease movement and enhance responsiveness.
“This is not a special favor, but a necessary step in ensuring that those entrusted with leadership at the ward level are properly supported to serve our people better,” the Chairman stated. “While we may not yet have the resources to provide more sophisticated means of transportation, we are committed to making meaningful investments that will have direct impact on governance and the lives of our people.”
He further urged the beneficiaries to see the motorcycles as official tools of service, stressing the importance of proper maintenance and responsible use to maximize their value.
Also speaking, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Nalop Miri Dashe, commended the Chairman for fulfilling his promise, describing the gesture as a reflection of purposeful leadership.
“We are not surprised, because the Chairman has consistently demonstrated integrity in keeping to his word. This gesture is yet another testament to his commitment to the welfare of both the council and the people of Langtang North,” he said.

In the same vein, the councilor representing Kuffen A, Hon. Grace Ponfa, expressed appreciation on behalf of her colleagues, noting that the provision of motorcycles comes at a crucial time when effective mobility is needed to deepen community engagement.
“This support will go a long way in helping us reach our constituents more efficiently. We are grateful and encouraged to do more in service to our people,” she added.
The motorcycles, which were assembled locally, were distributed to all councilors, ensuring equitable access to the mobility support initiative. The council reiterated that, despite limited resources, targeted interventions such as this remain essential in driving development and strengthening governance at the grassroots level.
The event was attended by principal officers of the legislative council, the Clerk of the House, political appointees, community stakeholders, and members of the media.
The Langtang North Local Government Council reaffirmed its resolve to continue implementing people-oriented policies and initiatives that promote accessibility, accountability, and inclusive development across all wards.
