The Plateau State Government says it has recovered more than 60 public assets, including buildings, construction equipment, and vehicles, in an ongoing effort to reclaim government property allegedly diverted or illegally occupied across the state.
Chairman of the Taskforce on Recovery of Government Properties, retired General Nash Yakubu, disclosed this while presenting an interim report to the Chief of Staff to the Plateau State Government, Jerry Satmak, in Jos.
Yakubu said the task force, which has operated for over one year, has recorded major progress in identifying and recovering valuable government assets.
According to him, the recovered items include public buildings, operational vehicles, and construction equipment previously taken over or unlawfully retained by individuals.
He explained that the task force adopted the principle of “See Something, Say Something” to encourage residents to report government properties that may have been hidden, diverted, or illegally occupied.
Yakubu said public support has played an important role in helping the committee trace several assets across different parts of the state.
He reaffirmed the administration’s determination to recover all public properties and ensure they are used for the benefit of the people.
The task force chairman added that the exercise is part of broader efforts by the government to promote accountability, protect public resources, and restore confidence in governance.
Officials said the recovery drive would continue until all identified government assets are reclaimed and properly managed.
