Former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon, PhD, has dismissed reports alleging that he is consulting to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the claim as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by the Grassroot Disciple Media Team, the former lawmaker said the report published by an online platform and circulated on social media was entirely unfounded and aimed at creating confusion among supporters and the general public.
The statement noted that although the allegation would ordinarily not deserve a response, it became necessary to clarify the matter and prevent the public from being misled by false narratives.
According to the statement, Senator Mwadkwon remains firmly committed to the APC and is actively consulting stakeholders across the six Local Government Areas of Plateau North Senatorial District as part of efforts to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 elections.
It further stated that the senator has already obtained his Declaration of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the Plateau North senatorial seat under the platform of the APC.
The media team expressed confidence that Mwadkwon is well-positioned for victory at the party primaries, citing his political strength and grassroots support across the zone.
It recalled that during the 2023 senatorial elections, Senator Mwadkwon won across all six Local Government Areas of Plateau North, describing the result as evidence of the trust and confidence the people have continued to place in him.
The statement accused political opponents of sponsoring false reports because they are unsettled by the growing popularity and acceptance of the former senator.
It urged members of the public to disregard what it described as the antics of mischief-makers seeking to mislead voters through propaganda and disinformation.
The media team also called on all aspirants in the race to uphold democratic values by engaging the electorate with ideas, programmes, and constructive campaigns.
It added that politics should be about service, vision, and healthy competition rather than personal attacks or attempts to distract opponents through falsehood.
Senator Mwadkwon, the statement concluded, remains focused on providing credible, people-oriented representation for Plateau North and will continue to pursue that vision through the APC platform.
