Troops of the Quick Response Force (QRF), Operation ENDURING PEACE, have uncovered and dismantled two illegal arms manufacturing factories in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The successful raid was carried out as part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt the supply of illicit weapons and protect law-abiding citizens within the Joint Operations Area.
Security sources said the operation followed intensified intelligence gathering and strategic surveillance by troops, which led to the discovery of the hidden manufacturing sites.
During the coordinated operation, five suspects were arrested while allegedly fabricating dangerous weapons at the illegal factories.
The military described the raid as a major breakthrough in the fight against criminal networks involved in arms production and circulation.
Troops are currently continuing covert operations to recover arms and ammunition believed to have already been distributed within the area.
Operation ENDURING PEACE commended residents for their support and cooperation with security agencies.
The task force also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities of criminal elements to relevant authorities.
Military authorities expressed confidence that the operation would significantly reduce illegal arms proliferation and improve security across Plateau State.
