The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to contest for re-election as the party commenced screening of aspirants ahead of its forthcoming primaries.
The screening exercise started on Friday in Abuja and involved serving governors seeking another term as well as party members contesting for Senate seats.
Governor Mutfwang was among the first aspirants to appear before the screening committee and was successfully cleared to seek a second term as Governor of Plateau State.
The exercise was conducted under the leadership of APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Party officials described the process as orderly, transparent, and focused on ensuring credible candidates emerge for the next stage of the party’s electoral process.
Several other aspirants were also screened and cleared during the opening day of the exercise.
The committee is expected to continue the screening on Saturday for the remaining governorship and Senate aspirants.
According to the APC, the process reflects the party’s commitment to internal democracy, fairness, and strong leadership selection ahead of future elections.
Governor Mutfwang’s clearance is expected to energize his supporters as preparations intensify for the party primaries in Plateau State.
