Concerned APC Youths, Stakeholders Demand Release of Authentic Jos-South Primary Election Result
Concerned youths and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Jos-South Local Government Area of Plateau State have called on party leaders to immediately announce what they described as the authentic result of the Jos-South House of Assembly primary election held on May 20, 2026.
The group made the demand during a press briefing addressed by Comrade Andrew Dalyop at the APC state secretariat, Kalwa House in Jos, where they expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in officially releasing the result more than 48 hours after the exercise was concluded.
According to the stakeholders, the delay has generated tension, suspicion, and anxiety among party members and residents of Jos-South, especially as voting had reportedly been concluded peacefully across the local government area.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dalyop stated that the stakeholders were not fighting the party but were instead defending the credibility of the APC, the dignity of party members, and the sanctity of votes cast during the primary election.
He further alleged that the group was in possession of documents showing what they believe to be the authentic election result alongside another disputed version containing figures they claimed did not reflect the actual voting outcome on the ground.
The stakeholders maintained that party members who left their businesses, farms, offices, and homes to participate in the exercise deserved to have their votes respected, warning against any attempt to substitute or doctor the result after the election process had been concluded.
They stressed that Jos-South has maintained political peace over the years through mutual understanding and balance among districts including Vwang, Kuru, Gyel, Zaang, and Du, cautioning that any attempt to impose a disputed result could threaten the trust and unity within the local government.
According to the group, the result known to party members showed that Hon. Mancha John Vincent secured 4,326 votes in the primary election, and they urged the relevant party authorities to officially declare the result without further delay.
The stakeholders also appealed to the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe, the national leadership of the party, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and ensure justice, fairness, and transparency in the process.
They warned that Plateau State had experienced enough division and fragile peace over the years and urged political actors not to allow internal party processes become another source of conflict and bitterness.
The group also appealed to APC youths and supporters in Jos-South to remain calm, disciplined, and law-abiding while awaiting the intervention of party leadership.
Among their demands were the immediate announcement of the authentic result, transparent examination of all disputed documents, rejection of any alleged doctored result, and urgent intervention by party leaders to protect internal democracy and public confidence in the APC.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the stakeholders insisted that loyalty should not prevent members from speaking out when democracy and the voices of party members are threatened.
“Democracy is not strengthened by the power to announce results. It is strengthened by the courage to announce the true result,” the statement read.
