An aspirant in the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State, Chief Yilchini Jan Bida, has alleged widespread irregularities in the ongoing exercise, accusing some officials of preparing results before voting took place in parts of Kanke Local Government Area.
Bida made the allegation in a press statement released on Friday, where he expressed concern over what he described as an attempt to undermine democracy and silence the voices of party delegates.
“I personally visited wards and communities across Kanke and saw the enthusiasm of delegates and supporters who were ready to participate in a credible primary election,” he stated.
The APC governorship aspirant said reports available to him indicated that in some areas where no accreditation or voting occurred, results were allegedly being compiled for announcement.
“What is happening is not just an irregularity; it is a calculated effort to subvert the will of the people and impose predetermined outcomes,” Bida said.
He warned that allowing such practices to continue could damage the credibility of the party and weaken public trust in the democratic process.
According to him, many party members in Kanke waited patiently with the hope that their votes would count, only to allegedly discover that figures had already been written before the exercise was conducted.
“It is an insult to the dignity and intelligence of our people when fictitious figures replace genuine votes,” he added.
Bida maintained that Kanke has always been known for honour, resilience, and principled leadership, insisting that the area should not be dragged into acts of political dishonesty.
“Kanke must never become a symbol of cowardice, deception, and political manipulation. Our people deserve transparency and fairness,” he declared.
The aspirant further called on party leaders, security agencies, and relevant authorities to intervene immediately to ensure that only authentic results emerge from the primary election.
“No political ambition is worth destroying the foundations of democracy. History will remember those who chose truth and justice over impunity,” Bida said.
The statement was signed by Chief Yilchini Jan Bida, APC governorship aspirant in Plateau State.
