An aspirant in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State, Comdr. Yilchini Jan Bida (Rtd.), has formally rejected the results announced by the party, describing the entire process as flawed and lacking credibility.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, Bida said the purported primary election allegedly conducted across Plateau State on May 21, 2026, did not reflect a transparent or democratic exercise.
Following consultations with his campaign organization, legal team, agents, and stakeholders across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, the APC governorship aspirant declared that he could not accept the outcome of the exercise.
“I state clearly and unequivocally that I reject in totality the declared results and the flawed process from which they emerged,” Bida said.
He alleged that the exercise was marred by widespread irregularities, including the secret distribution of election materials and the absence of electoral officials at designated voting centres across the state.
According to him, his accredited agents arrived early at the APC State Secretariat but discovered later that election materials were allegedly distributed secretly at Crispan Hotel without the knowledge or participation of his representatives.
“Thousands of party faithful and coordinators waited all day at designated venues. No electoral officials arrived, no accreditation took place, and no voting occurred,” he stated.
Bida further claimed that he personally travelled to his ward in Nemel, Kanke Local Government Area, to cast his vote but was allegedly disenfranchised because no officials or materials arrived at the venue.
The governorship aspirant also questioned the authenticity of the results announced by the party, insisting that the figures were mathematically impossible and showed signs of manipulation.
“As a trained forensic accountant, I must call attention to the severe lack of integrity in the figures being circulated. The announced outcomes are excessively uniform and mechanically synchronized across LGAs,” he said.
He explained that globally recognized statistical principles such as Benford’s Law suggest that naturally occurring electoral data should display irregular but authentic numerical patterns, unlike what was allegedly announced.
“Our stand is not born out of desperation, but out of commitment to internal democracy, the rule of law, and the rights of APC members in Plateau State,” Bida added.
He called on the National Working Committee and leadership of the party to investigate the alleged irregularities and urged his supporters across the state to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while lawful steps are pursued.
