The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has urged the Federal Government to give security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to end terrorism in Nigeria or resign from their positions.
Adeboye made the call in a video re-shared on his official X account on Tuesday while expressing concern over the country’s security challenges and the persistent threat posed by terrorist groups.
The cleric said those entrusted with the nation’s security should be held accountable for delivering tangible results in the fight against terrorism.
“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, ‘Move fast and tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,’” he said.
Adeboye also called on the government to intensify efforts against individuals and groups providing financial and logistical support to terrorist organisations.
According to him, security operations should not only target armed terrorists but also those sponsoring and facilitating their activities, regardless of their status or influence.
“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists; they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he added.
The remarks come amid renewed public concern over insecurity in parts of the country, including recent incidents of abduction of school children and their teachers in Oyo.
