The grand finale of the Sing for Plateau talent competition ended on a high note on Thursday as Mic Fix emerged the overall winner, taking home the N1 million grand prize after impressing judges and audiences with an outstanding performance.
The event, held at the Usiju World Event Center in Jos, brought together entertainers, creatives, government officials, and residents in a celebration of talent, culture, and youth empowerment. Organized as a talent development initiative of the Plateau State Government, the programme was themed “One Plateau, Many Talents, One Voice.”
The competition featured singers, dancers, poets, spoken word artists, comedians, content creators, and other creative professionals from across the state. A total of 102 contestants participated in the competition and were all presented with certificates of participation in recognition of their efforts and contributions.
Representing Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo described the initiative as a platform that goes beyond entertainment and competition.
“Sing for Plateau is more than a talent show. It is a celebration of the creativity, resilience, and immense potential of our young people,” she said.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Mutfwang administration to supporting programmes that empower youths and strengthen the creative industry.
“Our administration remains committed to initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, nurture talents, and create opportunities for young people to thrive. Talent development can create livelihoods, inspire innovation, and contribute meaningfully to society,” Piyo added.
Earlier, the Convener of the programme and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creativity and Entertainment, Barr. Ezra Jinang, said the initiative was created to project a positive image of Plateau State through the talents of its young people.
“This programme was conceived to rebrand Plateau State and challenge negative perceptions by giving young creatives a platform to tell our story through their talents,” Jinang stated.
He disclosed that the competition attracted 102 entries across various categories, including singing, dancing, poetry, and digital content creation.
“We ensured a transparent selection process handled by respected industry veterans. I encourage our youths to embrace patriotism, creativity, and excellence as they pursue their dreams,” he said.
Also speaking, the General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Chuwang Nyam Pwajok, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of the state’s creative industry.
“Plateau State has long been recognized as a hub of artistic excellence. Many successful figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry have their roots in Jos, and this programme helps to sustain that legacy,” he said.
Pwajok commended Governor Mutfwang for supporting the creative sector through partnerships and programmes designed to create opportunities for emerging talents.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of Mic Fix as the overall winner of the competition. Following a rigorous selection process conducted by judges and industry professionals, he emerged victorious and received the N1 million grand prize.
Guests were also entertained by a series of electrifying performances that showcased the richness of Plateau’s creative talent. Organizers expressed optimism that Sing for Plateau would become an annual platform for talent discovery, cultural promotion, and youth development across the state.
