Jos, Nigeria The city of Jos came alive yesterday as Zang Global Innovations officially launched its Product Exhibition and Made-in-Nigeria Technology Showcase at Using Event Centre, marking a major milestone for local innovation and entrepreneurship in Plateau State.
The event gathered industry leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, government representatives, and tech enthusiasts from across Nigeria. It was an inspiring evening of celebration, networking, and commitment to a new future powered by homegrown technology.
In his heartfelt address, Mr. Zang Luka, CEO of Zang Global, began by appreciating his parents, mentors, pastor, and the company’s partners for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
He recalled how the idea for Zang Global was born from a failed early project a “drink recorder” device that could replay moments after consumption. That setback, he explained, was the seed that birthed today’s successful innovation.
“We began in a very small workspace, with limited tools but unlimited faith,” he said. “And today, we are proudly launching Made in Nigeria USB cables and mobile phone chargers, built with local innovation, local talent, and global standards.”
The CEO emphasized that Zang Global’s vision goes beyond product manufacturing it’s a mission to create 15,000 jobs across Africa by 2029, through training young people and displaced persons in electronic waste recycling and renewable energy.
“Every cable we produce, every product we recycle, and every young person we train brings us one step closer to our Vision 2029,” he declared.
Luka also appreciated Amahoro Foundation for its partnership and unwavering support in training, mentorship, and resource provision.
“Together, we can achieve even greater things. With your continued support, Vision 2029 will become a reality,” he said.
He concluded by calling on investors, partners, and the community to join the movement:
“We are building more than a brand we are building a movement. A movement that champions innovation made in Africa, powered by purpose, and driven by people.”
Keynote Speech by Mr. Ezekiel Gomos, Founder/CEO, The Jos Business School
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Ezekiel Gomos highlighted the importance of innovation, local problem-solving, and collaboration in driving development.
He celebrated Plateau State’s strong record in national innovation competitions, where young entrepreneurs have emerged victorious five times between 2016 and 2022.
“This tells us that the environment here is fertile it produces creative, innovative, and resilient people,” he said.
Mr. Gomos shared three key lessons for young innovators:
- Build Solutions to Local Problems “Every problem is a business opportunity waiting to be solved.”
- Protect Your Innovation “Register your business, secure your intellectual property, and don’t let your hard work become someone else’s profit.”
- Seek Support and Build Partnerships “No one builds anything great alone. Collaboration opens doors that you could never open on your own.”
He concluded by urging young people in Plateau to believe in their abilities and to continue shaping Africa’s future through creativity and courage.
The event featured several goodwill messages from industry leaders and partners.
Hon. Samuel Gwot, General Manager, Plateau Express Services, praised the Zang Global initiative as a sign of progress and pledged support by purchasing products worth over ₦1,2000,000, encouraging others to support local innovation.
“We must take charge of our own narrative. There are great things happening here and it’s time we tell those stories ourselves,” he said.
Representing the Amahoro Coalition, Mercy Kusiwaa Frimpong, Strategy Custodian Communications, described the partnership with Zang Global as “a symbol of innovation and hope.”
She commended Mr. Luka’s vision and resilience and reaffirmed Amahoro’s commitment to expanding opportunities across Africa.
Koppe Sylvanus, CEO of Aplus Computers, also spoke passionately about the growth of the Plateau tech ecosystem and pledged ₦500,000 in support, along with training resources, internet access, and workspace to strengthen Zang Global’s Vision 2029.
“Technology is about collaboration. If we don’t collaborate, we won’t innovate and if we don’t innovate, we won’t grow,” he emphasized.
Adding to the support, Mr. Samuel Opkosio, CEO of Simplicity Group, praised the exceptional quality of Zang Global’s products and also pledged ₦500,000, calling them “world-class products worthy of global recognition.”
The event featured electrifying performances by Arin, Dexdee, and vibrant cultural dancers, adding a colorful touch to the evening’s celebration.
Guests were treated to a live product showcase and networking session where they experienced firsthand the efficiency, durability, and craftsmanship of Zang Global’s USB cables and mobile chargers. Many attendees expressed pride and excitement over the innovation emerging from Jos.
