The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including a pastor and an Islamic cleric, for allegedly possessing and trading human body parts in Ibadan.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed on 24th March 2026 that a patrol team intercepted an unregistered motorcycle in the Adekile area of Agugu. A search of the pillion revealed a package containing suspected human intestines.
The rider, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, confessed to obtaining the items from an unknown individual and selling them to Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, 46, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, 55. Both buyers were subsequently tracked, arrested, and admitted to purchasing the suspected human parts from Joseph.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation. Following the conclusion of investigations, all suspects will be charged to court.
DSP Olayinka assured the public that the suspects are in custody and emphasized the importance of community vigilance. “Members of the public are urged to promptly report any information regarding the possession or sale of human parts to the nearest police station or security agency,” he said.
