The Plateau State Government has eased the curfew earlier imposed on Jos North following improvements in the security situation.
The Commissioner for Information, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the adjustment will take effect from April 1, 2026.
According to her, the curfew, which was initially declared for 48 hours, will now be observed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, allowing residents to attend to their normal activities within the permitted hours.
The government said the decision was taken after relative calm was recorded following the recent violent attack on residents of Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North.
“In light of the relative calm recorded after the recent violent attack on citizens of Anguwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, the government… has announced the relaxation of the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on the area,” the statement read.
“Effective from April 1, 2026, the curfew will now be observed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents are hereby permitted to carry out their lawful activities within the stipulated hours.”
Ramnap urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security agencies continue to monitor the situation. She also commended the public for their cooperation during the restriction and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The curfew was initially imposed after gunmen attacked Anguwan Rukuba, leaving several people dead, with authorities citing improved security as the reason for the adjustment.
