The David Mark-led African Democratic Congress, ADC, has expelled the party’s former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, and a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide.

The decision was announced at the party’s National Congress, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Others expelled by the Mark-led ADC include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu and Elias Adiukwu.

Nafiu Bala Gombe is insisting that he is the authentic National Chairman of the party, despite claims that he earlier resigned from the position of Deputy National Chairman.

Alongside Abejide, he led a protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday, where he demanded that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and David Mark stay away from the ADC.

Bala accused the political figures of attempting to hijack the party.

A suit filed by Bala led to INEC’s decision to de-recognize the David Mark ADC leadership.
