The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has approved the creation of new District Church Councils (DCCs), a major restructuring initiative, and a pilot centralised salary reform scheme aimed at strengthening administration and welfare within the denomination.
This was contained in the communique of the 73rd General Church Council (GCC) held at the Church’s International Headquarters in Jos from 21st to 24th April, 2026.
The communique was presented by the President of the Church Council, Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat Malan, at the end of the meeting.
According to the statement, the Council deliberated extensively on governance, mission expansion, and administrative efficiency across the denomination.
One of the key decisions was the approval of new District Church Councils to reflect the Church’s growing membership and expanding geographical reach.
The approved DCCs include Chonge-Pero DCC carved out from Shongom DCC, Tafawa-Belewa DCC from Dass DCC, and Kontagora DCC from Minna DCC.
The Council explained that the new structures were introduced to enhance administrative efficiency and improve missional effectiveness across ECWA.
It noted that the development will further strengthen church coordination and deepen grassroots evangelism in affected areas.
The Council also resolved to restructure ECWA to reflect a stronger international character in both governance and mission engagement.
It stated that the restructuring will align the Church’s systems, ministries, and operations with global best practices while maintaining its biblical foundation.
On welfare, the Council approved a pilot phase of a Centralised Salary Scheme scheduled to begin in January 2027.
The initiative, according to the communique, is aimed at promoting equity, transparency, and improved welfare for church workers across all levels.
The Council urged members and stakeholders to support the decisions, noting that the reforms are designed to strengthen ECWA’s mission and long-term sustainability.
