The Taraba State Police Command has arrested several suspects linked to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust, while also recovering stolen property.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Victor Mshelizah.
The command outlined three separate cases that led to the arrests and recoveries.
In the first incident, a resident, Alhaji Hamishu Abubakar Sambo, reported on November 16, 2025, that armed men invaded his residence in the early hours of the same day. The attackers, armed with cutlasses and sticks, allegedly made away with a Honda Accord vehicle, mobile phones, a television set, cash, and other personal belongings.
Following investigations by the State Intelligence Department (SID), four suspects identified as Aminu Abubakar Abi, 40, Aliyu Salmanu, 29, Aliyu Abubakar, 33, and Daniel Boniface, 22, were arrested.
Police said items recovered from them included two cutlasses, two torch lights, a 42-inch Samsung television, and a Redmi 13 Pro smartphone.
In another case involving criminal breach of trust, a tricycle owner, Abubakar Habeeb, according to the police, reported that his vehicle was unlawfully transferred to a third party after he entrusted it to one Shamsudden Muhammad for personal use.
“Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) tracked the suspects to Hulleri Village in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where three suspects, Ishaq Umar, 23, Ibrahim Saidu, and Adamu Usman, were arrested. The stolen tricycle was also recovered,” the police said.
In a third incident, two victims, Tanko Danladi, 55, and Nmember Danladi, 45, were said to have been attacked on April 26, 2026, along the Takum–Wukari road.
According to police, the suspects, Jibrin Idrisu, 19, and Dahiru Ya’u Dopta, 19, allegedly blocked the road using a locally fabricated gun, a cutlass, and sticks before robbing the victims of a motorcycle, cash, and a mobile phone.
The command confirmed that both suspects have been arrested and the stolen motorcycle recovered. Police said investigations into all three cases are ongoing and assured that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion.
The Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
