Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, has continued his ward-to-ward consultation tour across Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.
The latest phase of the tour took the lawmaker to nine federal wards, where he engaged party members, community leaders, and constituents on issues of representation, party unity, and future development priorities.
The wards visited include Langshi, Dokpai, Amper Seri, Gyangyan, Nemel, Dawaki, Kabwir, Ampang East, and Wuchembe.
Recall that the ongoing grassroots consultation followed the first phase of the tour, which began on Monday, May 11, when Gagdi visited Tal, Garram, Chip, Jibilik, Langkang among other wards.
Addressing party members and residents in the various wards visited, Gagdi said the tour was not merely for campaign purposes but to maintain close contact with the people who elected him into office. He noted that leadership should remain connected to the grassroots at all times.
“This visitation is not even about campaigning. It is about keeping in touch with the people who voted me into office. I do not want to feel too big to relate with the people the way I have always done,” he said.
The lawmaker explained that rather than making fresh promises, he preferred to allow his past record speak for him. He pointed to ongoing projects such as the completion of a modern primary healthcare centre in Gyangyan and community halls in some wards, assuring residents that unfinished projects would be completed.
“The people have seen what I have done already. If given another opportunity, I will do even better than what I have done in the last seven years. I know their expectations, and I will not disappoint them,” Gagdi stated.
He urged constituents to reject politics of hatred, division, and anti-party activities, stressing that elections should be based on performance, capacity, and visible contributions to communities. According to him, leadership should be entrusted to those who have demonstrated commitment through schools, empowerment programmes, payment of WAEC, NECO and JAMB fees, and other interventions.
“It is different when someone has already made impact in the community and another person is only making promises. My priority has always been empowering the people and bringing what rightfully belongs to the constituency,” he added.
Gagdi also promised continued support for Dawaki, Nemel, Kabwir and other wards, including the construction of a state-of-the-art community hall where land has already been provided. He further assured stakeholders that he would remain neutral in future local government chairmanship contests and continue to work for peace, unity, and progress across Kanke.
Party leaders in the visited federal wards praised Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi for his developmental strides and pledged support for his re-election bid. They commended him for providing key amenities and impactful representation, while urging residents to turn out massively to vote for him. They also called for unity among members of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections and offered prayers for his victory in the forthcoming polls.
The wards tour are seen as part of his strategy to strengthen support base, appreciate constituents, and seek renewed backing ahead of the APC primary contest.
