The Capacity CJ Support Group (CCJSG) has officially endorsed Hon. Pharm. John Ezekiel Chun for the position of Member representing Barkin Ladi–Riyom Federal Constituency ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries and the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement took place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, during a grand rally at Heipang Community Hall in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, drawing large crowds of party stakeholders, supporters, and community leaders.
Reading the group’s press statement, Convener Hon. Dung Iliya Daniel said the decision followed careful consultations and assessment of all aspirants seeking to represent the constituency.
He stated that the group found Chun to be the most preferred and people-oriented candidate, citing his longstanding commitment to community development and grassroots empowerment.
“Our endorsement is based on proven leadership capacity, accessibility, competence, and genuine concern for the welfare of our people,” Daniel said.
He noted that despite never holding elective office, Chun has consistently invested in youths through educational support, sponsorship of JAMB registrations, mentorship, and assistance with admissions and employment opportunities.
The convener also highlighted Chun’s support for women and vulnerable groups through business assistance, healthcare interventions, and empowerment programmes across Barkin Ladi and Riyom communities.
“Hon. John Chun has consistently shown compassion by touching lives through youth empowerment, women support schemes, and healthcare assistance for the less privileged,” he added.
Daniel further said the aspirant’s experience in private and public service positions him to deliver effective representation, stressing that the constituency needs tested leadership that can attract development and restore hope.
“This is not the time for experimentation. Our constituency deserves a representative with capacity, experience, and the courage to serve, and Chun fits that responsibility,” he declared.
Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Pharm. John Ezekiel Chun expressed deep appreciation to the Capacity CJ Support Group, describing the gesture as a great honour and responsibility ahead of the APC primaries.
“I don’t take this for granted. I see it as a huge burden placed on me, and it calls for total justification of the confidence you have shown in me today,” he said.
Chun assured the group that if given the opportunity, he would focus on effective representation, youth empowerment, poverty reduction, and collaboration with government to tackle insecurity, which he called the constituency’s greatest challenge.
He further pledged to create opportunities for youths through skills training and employment support, adding that improved security would help farmers return to their lands and restore economic growth across the federal constituency.
Sana Naphtali Luka, Coordinator II of Barkin Ladi LGA for the CJ Support Group, said the constituency needs an active and youthful representative, adding that Chun has empowered youths and touched lives across both local government areas despite never holding elective office.
Deme Sati Mango, Coordinator from Riyom LGA, said the group conducted a careful assessment of all aspirants before choosing Chun as the most credible candidate for quality representation.
