Hon. Pharm. Chun Ezekiel John has pledged to deliver service-driven representation for the people of Barkin Ladi–Riyom Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chun made this known to journalists in Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State during an endorsement gathering organized by youths under the Capacity CJ Support Group.
The aspirant said his political ambition is not driven by personal gain or the desire for status, but by the need to provide effective representation and contribute to policies that will improve the lives of the people.
He noted that many young people are demanding a new direction in governance and are eager to see leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people over personal interests.
“Our young people are tired of the status quo. They want a different flavour of governance, especially in parliamentary representation,” Chun stated.
The Pharmacist stressed that insecurity remains one of the greatest challenges facing the constituency, promising to work with relevant authorities to address the situation.
He said communities across Barkin Ladi and Riyom have continued to suffer attacks, displacement, and economic hardship, adding that urgent and practical solutions are needed to restore peace.
“Anybody whose priorities are not security is not ready for the job. We are not going to pay lip service to insecurity; we are going to face it headlong,” he declared.
Chun also promised to focus on youth empowerment through job creation, entrepreneurship support, skills acquisition, and other empowerment programmes aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment.
According to him, empowering young people and engaging them productively would help reduce crime, drug abuse, and other social vices in society.
“We are going to empower those with skills, secure opportunities for others, and ensure our youths have something meaningful to do,” he added.
He further expressed optimism that with improved security and effective leadership, farmers would return to their farmlands and communities across Barkin Ladi–Riyom would witness renewed growth and development.
