Commodore Isaac Mashingil Mankilik (Rtd.) has officially stepped down from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Plateau Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement released on Monday in Bokkos, Plateau State, the retired Naval Commodore said his decision was taken in the interest of peace, unity, and stability within the party.
Mankilik explained that his political journey was built on the “Security First” mantra, which he said was aimed at protecting the people of Plateau Central, promoting democratic values, and ensuring quality representation for the zone.
The APC founding member in Plateau State noted that after consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and faithfuls across the senatorial district, he decided to withdraw from the contest to reduce political tension and strengthen cohesion within the party.
According to him, “True leadership is not just about holding office; it is about protecting the peace and unity of the people you aspire to lead.”
He described the move as a strategic sacrifice intended to support the collective interest of the APC ahead of the general elections.
The retired military officer also expressed gratitude to his supporters, volunteers, and members of the “Click Mankilik” team for standing firmly behind his vision throughout the campaign period.
Mankilik assured them that his withdrawal from the race does not signal the end of his political mission, but rather a transition into a broader role aimed at ensuring the success of the APC and the advancement of Plateau Central.
He further urged his supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to the victory of the APC at all levels.
