The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the successful candidates who emerged from its Plateau State primary elections for the Senate and House of Representatives ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The results were presented by the Chairman of the Plateau State APC Primary Election Committee, Stella Okotete, on behalf of the party’s electoral panel following the conclusion of the primaries across the state.
For the House of Representatives seats, the party confirmed Beni Lar as candidate for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, Joe Dashi for Shendam/Qua’anpan/Mikang, and Ishaya Lalu for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency.
Also announced were Yusuf Adamu Gagdi for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Idris Wase for Wase Federal Constituency, Dachung Musa Bagos for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, and Dalyop Fom for Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.
In the senatorial races, former Governor Simon Bako Lalong emerged as the APC candidate for Plateau South Senatorial District, while David Bitrus Barji secured the ticket for Plateau Central. Simon Mwadkwon was declared winner for Plateau North Senatorial District.
Speaking after the exercise, Okotete applauded the Plateau State Governor, party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, and supporters for ensuring a peaceful and orderly process throughout the primaries.
She described the exercise as successful, noting that aspirants demonstrated discipline, unity, and commitment to the progress of the party.
According to her, although only a few candidates emerged victorious, every aspirant remains important to the party’s collective ambition ahead of the elections.
Okotete further appreciated the APC National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee for the confidence reposed in the committee to oversee the exercise.
She called on party members to remain united and committed as preparations intensify for the general elections, stressing that a united APC would continue to remain a strong political force in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
The committee chairman also prayed for peace, stability, and success for Plateau State, the APC, and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
