The Barkin Ladi Concerned Youths have issued a public apology to Masara Kim Usman over remarks recently made against him, describing the statement as unfortunate and not reflective of the views of many young people and community members in the area.
In a statement signed by the leader, Amb. Dusu Emmanuel and made available to journalists, the group expressed regret over the comments credited to the Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council (PYC), Barkin Ladi chapter, saying they deeply valued Masara’s contributions to the people of the area.
The youths noted that the statement failed to acknowledge the appreciation and gratitude many residents have for Masara Kim Usman’s sacrifices, advocacy, and humanitarian interventions over the years.
“We sincerely tender our unreserved apology for the unfortunate statement made by the PYC Chairman concerning your person and your contributions to our people.”
The group further stated that the remarks did not adequately represent the feelings of many youths and community members who have benefited from his support and commitment to the welfare of vulnerable persons.
“We believe the statement did not adequately reflect the appreciation and gratitude that many youths and members of our communities have for your sacrifices, advocacy, and humanitarian efforts.”
According to the statement, Masara has consistently stood with communities affected by insecurity, particularly displaced persons and families facing hardship as a result of attacks and displacement from their ancestral homes.
The group specifically acknowledged his efforts in supporting people living in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and others struggling with the consequences of insecurity across the area.
“We remain grateful for your unwavering support to our people, especially those displaced from their ancestral homes, those living in IDP camps, and many others facing difficult circumstances.”
The youths also commended his role in drawing national and international attention to the plight of affected communities through his reports and advocacy, noting that such efforts have helped attract assistance from individuals and organizations.
“Your commitment to amplifying the voices of the vulnerable has not gone unnoticed.”
While expressing hope that the apology would foster understanding, the group prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Masara and all individuals who have genuinely supported victims of insecurity and displacement.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the appreciation of the Barkin Ladi Concerned Youths for his contributions and wished him greater success in his humanitarian and advocacy engagements.
