President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Hon. Yakubu Jang, son of former Plateau State Governor and elder statesman, Senator Jonah David Jang, as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.
The appointment was announced on Saturday by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the public presentation of Senator Jonah Jang’s autobiography, Airman to Politics: My Life, held in Jos as part of activities marking the former governor’s 80th birthday celebration.
“On behalf of Mr President, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Yakubu Jang as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President,” Shettima said.
The Vice President said the appointment reflected President Tinubu’s confidence in Yakubu Jang’s capacity and his commitment to bringing competent Nigerians into public service.
The announcement was greeted with applause from the audience, which included former President Goodluck Jonathan, governors, ministers, lawmakers, traditional rulers, diplomats and other dignitaries.
Hon. Yakubu Jang, a Plateau politician, has remained active in public affairs and political engagements in the state. His appointment is expected to strengthen the representation of Plateau State in the Presidency.
The announcement was one of the highlights of the event, which attracted political leaders and associates from across the country to celebrate the life and public service of Senator Jonah David Jang.
