Emmanuel Ikpeme has been appointed interim General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, DAILY POST reports.

The National Sports Commission, NSC, endorsed the appointment of Ikpeme, who until now served as Deputy General Secretary of the NFF, following the resignation of key officials of the federation on Thursday.

Similarly, Ademola Olajire, previously the NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, has also been appointed interim Deputy General Secretary.

DAILY POST recalls that NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, and members of the Executive Committee resigned from their posts on Thursday.

Gusau recently came under intense pressure following the Super Falcons’ poor outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The 10-time African champions were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

They also failed to secure a berth at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held in Brazil.

Nigeria’s U-20 side, the Flying Eagles, also failed to qualify for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

The Flying Eagles were thrashed 4-1 by Burkina Faso in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
