Barely two days after the management of Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, warned final-year students against wild jubilation following the completion of their last examinations, the university has cancelled the MCB 414 examination written by students of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences.
DAILY POST recalls that the Registrar of the institution, Mrs Oluwayomi O. Agbebaku, had, in a statement dated September 16, 2026, and addressed to all Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs) and students, warned students against any act of wild jubilation, celebration and other unhealthy activities that may lead to illegal behaviour and criminal activities.
The statement, titled, ‘Prohibition of Wild Jubilation as Second Semester Examinations for 2025/2026 Academic Session Ends’, said the celebration was banned within and outside the university campus.
But barely two days after the statement, on Friday, September 18, 2026, the university management cancelled the MCB 414 (Anti-Microbial Agents and Chemotherapy) examination written by students of the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences, over alleged violation of the university’s directive banning wild jubilation after examinations.

DAILY POST reports that the cancellation of the MCB 414 (Anti-Microbial Agents and Chemotherapy) examination was announced in a statement also signed by the university Registrar, Mrs Oluwayomi O. Agbebaku.
Agbebaku alleged that the affected students flouted the institution’s earlier warning against the practice.
According to the statement, the students were reminded of the prohibition before the examination but went ahead to flout the directive after completing the paper.
“Accordingly, the University Management has decided that the examination be cancelled,” the statement said.
She said the management noted that the action was intended to serve as a deterrent to other students, stressing that stiffer penalties would be imposed on any other department that violates the directive in future.
Meanwhile, the university has directed students to use the designated car park outside the university gate to facilitate easy access into the campus.
The management had listed activities that amounted to wild jubilation to include vehicle, motorcycle or bicycle parades, pouring of water, sand and drinks, consumption of alcohol, shouting, hooting, dancing and other unhealthy activities that may lead to illegal behaviour and criminal activities.
It also prohibited the use of the vicinity of the Administrative Building for motorcades.
The university had advised all students to look forward to celebrating their graduation during the next convocation ceremony.
