For The Truth and For Plateau
We have read the release titled “BRUTAL FACT-CHECK: CALLING THE MUTFWANG CAMP’S BLUFF” by Universal Comr. Linus Longodo.[Lino]
With respect, Plateau people deserve truth, not theatre. And truth is this: governance is not a war trophy to be shared by quota. It is a sacred duty to deliver results.
Let us respond plainly, because Plateau people are watching.
1. ON “PARTY POSITIONS VS GOVERNORSHIP”: POWER MUST BE EARNED, NOT DEMANDED
Yes, the Governor controls the budget, appointments, and machinery of state. That is not “deceit.” That is the Constitution. That is what the people voted for on March 18, 2023.
The argument that “106 party positions cannot equal one governorship” is correct because they were never meant to. Party positions exist to mobilize, to organize, and to grow the party. Government positions exist to serve 4.3 million Plateau people.
Governor Mutfwang did not “keep the pot of food.” He is cooking for everyone. The roads in Mangu, the hospitals in Shendam, the water in Jos, the peace meetings in Bokkos that food is for all Plateau people, not for one faction.
To say “sharing structure without sharing governance is exploitation” ignores a basic fact: Governor Mutfwang inherited a government, not a private company. He owes Plateau first.
2. ON “SHOW US ONE GOVERNMENT POSITION”: UNITY IS BEYOND TITLES
The claim that “there is NONE” from Legacy in government is both unfair and inaccurate.
Unity is not measured only by Commissioner or SSG slots. It is measured by inclusion in decision-making, by appointments across boards, agencies, and LGAs, and by the fact that this government runs an open-door policy.
More importantly: Governor Mutfwang’s mandate is to Plateau, not to a camp. Section 14(2b) of the 1999 Constitution says: “The composition of Government… shall be carried out in such manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity.”_
The key word is Nigeria and Plateau. Not “one group.”
John Locke also spoke of government for the common good. That is what this administration is doing putting people over politics. If anyone feels left out, the door to the Governor is open. He has said it repeatedly.
3. ON “BETRAYAL OF SACRIFICE”: PLATEAU SACRIFICED FOR PEACE, NOT FOR POSITIONS
We honor the sacrifices of 2023. Every Plateau person who stood in the rain, who voted, who prayed for a new Plateau deserves respect including those in the Legacy Group.
But politics is not a transaction. It is not “I gave you ticket, so give me government.” That is the old politics that kept Plateau divided for 24 years.
Governor Mutfwang stepped into office to unite Plateau, not to divide it by camps. That is why you see him working with traditional rulers, clergy, security agencies, civil society, and yes with former Governors across party lines.
Machiavelli also said: “The ends justify the means only if the ends are for the people.” The end here is peace and development. That is the strongest foundation, not sand.
Gen. Sura, Hon. Latep, Chief Dusu and others remain respected sons of Plateau. The government has not shut them out. Governance is a marathon, not a sprint.
4. ON “NO PROJECTS, HIGHEST ALLOCATION”: LET THE FACTS SPEAK
This is where emotion must give way to evidence.
Yes, FAAC has been high — because of fuel subsidy removal and reforms. But so have costs. Diesel for Metro Buses, materials for roads, and security operations have all tripled.
Yet in 2 years, this administration has:
1. Security: Reconstituted the security architecture, held town halls in flashpoints, and reduced large-scale attacks compared to 2022-2023. Over 200 deaths is painful, but without government intervention it would have been worse. Peace is a process.
2. Infrastructure: Flag-offs are not noise. They are the first step. The Jos and Bukuru roads, the Plateau Specialist Hospital upgrade, rural roads, and solar streetlights are ongoing. You cannot build 8 years of decay in 3 years.
3. People: Payment of salaries, subventions, and clearing of some pension arrears. NG-CARES and SFTAS money are tied to specific programs that are reaching farmers and SMEs.
You cannot “eat allocation.” You budget it, you tender it, you execute it. And Governor Mutfwang is doing exactly that with transparency reports published quarterly.
Proverbs 22:1 is true. And a good name is built by work, not by press releases.
5. ON “SPIRITUAL & CIVIC WARNING”: WE AGREE. LET US NOT DIVIDE THE HOUSE
Mark 3:25: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” We agree 100%.
That is why Governor Mutfwang has preached “One Plateau” from day one. That is why he met with all former Governors. That is why the recent cabinet reshuffle was about competence, not camps.
President Tinubu’s “Government of National Unity” is about carrying Nigerians, not about forcing quotas. Governor Mutfwang is doing the same for Plateau.
Kofi Annan warned against “Winner Takes All.” He also warned against “Loser Demands All.” Democracy is about balance.
CONCLUSION: PLATEAU IS NOT BLIND. PLATEAU IS WISE
Plateau people are not blind. They see the potholes being filled. They see the peace meetings. They see a Governor who goes to bed at 2am reading files.
You cannot “take the governorship.” The people gave it.
You cannot “keep all government power.” The Constitution vests it in the office to serve all.
And you cannot build Plateau by threats of 2027. You build it by work today.
Governor Mutfwang’s eyes are wide open. To the suffering in communities. To the need for jobs. To the call for unity.
The Governor has not abandoned anyone. He has embraced everyone. The invitation still stands: Come, let us build Plateau together.
Because the same people who carried him in 2023 are the same people he is serving in 2026 Plateau people.
And Plateau is moving forward.
