Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has resigned from his position to pursue his ambition of contesting for the governorship of Bauchi State.
The ministry confirmed the development on Monday through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, stating, “The resignation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs is confirmed.”
Tuggar is among four ministers in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cabinet expected to step down in order to pursue political ambitions.
The minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, had earlier confirmed Tuggar’s intention to contest the Bauchi governorship seat, adding that he would follow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable for resignations and campaign regulations.
Tuggar, who hails from Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area, had previously contested for the governorship position.
