Philip Agbese, the lawmaker representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress and defected to the Labour Party.
Agbese, who serves as the deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, announced his defection on Tuesday via a statement shared on his official Facebook page.
He said his decision was driven by a desire to better serve his constituents, noting that he is “answering a higher call to serve my people with sincerity, humility, and commitment” through the Labour Party.
The lawmaker added that he had been warmly received by colleagues in the National Assembly who are members of the party across the country.
Agbese also praised the leadership of the party, particularly its National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, describing the party as a “modest assembly of patriots.”
He acknowledged the responsibility of strengthening the party in Benue State, stating that his membership would be anchored on inclusiveness, mutual respect, and unity among both old and new members.
