Plateau State Police Arrest 22 Suspects in Connection with Deadly Ambush
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 22 suspects in connection with a deadly ambush on travelers in Mangun village, Mangu Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on June 20, 2025, at around 9:47 p.m., targeted a commercial bus carrying passengers from Zaria, Kaduna State, to Qua’an-Pan LGA for a wedding.
According to DSP Alfred Alabo, spokesperson for the command, the passengers lost their way and mistakenly entered Mangun village, triggering the attack. The mob set the vehicle ablaze, resulting in fatalities and injuries. However, thanks to swift police intervention, 21 victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment. Fourteen others were rescued unhurt.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, visited the scene the next morning to assess the situation and restore order. The police have deployed officers from various departments to support the investigation and apprehend more suspects.
CP Adesina assured the public that the command is working to bring all those involved in the incident to justice. DSP Alabo urged citizens, especially youths, not to take the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing the authorities to handle the investigation .
