Plateau State Bus Attack Leaves 7 Dead Many injured As Armed Assailants Attack A Bus Conveying Wedding Guests
A tragic incident occurred on Friday night in Plateau State when armed assailants attacked a commercial bus carrying wedding guests, resulting in the deaths of at least seven passengers and injuring many others.
The bus, carrying 28 passengers from Zaria in Kaduna State to Qua’an-Pan in southern Plateau for a wedding, was ambushed around 9:47 p.m. along Mangun Road in Mangu Local Government Area. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle and later set it ablaze.
Local residents and community leaders quickly mobilized to assist the victims, working together with security operatives to rescue survivors from the burning vehicle. Emergency responders transported the injured to the General Hospital in Mangu for treatment.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the attack and deployed tactical units to track down the culprits and prevent further violence. The command promised to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The attack has reignited fears over the rising wave of insecurity in Plateau, particularly the targeting of commuters on major routes. Authorities have called for calm, urging residents to remain vigilant while promising increased patrols and stronger security measures to protect travelers.
