Governor Mutfwang Inspects Landmark Hotel Revamps, Reaffirms Commitment To Tourism And Investment In Plateau State
As part of his administration’s mission to reestablish Plateau State as a prime hub for leisure and investment, the Executive Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, embarked on an inspection tour of the ongoing remodeling works at two of Jos’ most iconic establishments — the Plateau Hotel and the Hill Station Hotel.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Mutfwang described the hotels as “monumental legacy assets” deeply rooted in the state’s cultural and economic history. He lamented their long-standing neglect but expressed optimism about their transformation, noting that their revival is essential to Plateau’s tourism renaissance.
“A lot of the history of Plateau State is tied to assets like this,” the Governor said. “It is heartening to see the progress being made.”
He further highlighted his administration’s strategy of engaging private investors in public infrastructure renewal, aimed at reducing the financial burden on government while ensuring long-term sustainability. According to him, substantial portions of the Plateau Hotel renovation are expected to be completed and operational by December 1, 2025.
At the Plateau Hotel site, the developer, Aviare Global Concept Ltd., led by Chairman/CEO Mr. Kudla Satumari, presented key components of the upgrade. These include a dual carriage access road, lush landscaping adorned with palm trees, a high-tech control and security center with CCTV surveillance, and a redesigned perimeter fence that balances aesthetics with safety.
At the Hill Station Hotel, developers Hillside Hospitality Ltd. reported that Phase One of the rehabilitation has reached 45% completion. Construction currently includes new gatehouses and fencing, a modern gym, twin swimming pools, a poolside bar, a laundry café, and various support facilities. Major progress is also being recorded on the annex of the main building, conference halls, and site-wide landscaping. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works are underway, alongside the installation of CCTV systems and connection to NESCO power.
The Hill Station Hotel project is being led by Project Manager Arc. Okechukwu Izeogu, with Arch. Racheal Dawurung as Lead Supervisor, and Project Director Oluwadamilola Awoyomi overseeing implementation.
Governor Mutfwang commended the project teams for their dedication and professionalism. He reiterated his administration’s firm commitment to restoring Plateau State’s status as the “Home of Peace and Tourism” by breathing new life into its hospitality and tourism sector.
