Dachung Bagos Visits IDP Camp in Plateau, Urges Swift Action for Peace and Justice
Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, former representative of Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, has paid a humanitarian visit to an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, amid growing insecurity and displacement in the region.
During the visit, Bagos expressed deep sorrow over the condition of families uprooted from their ancestral homes due to ongoing violence. Moved by their plight, he donated essential relief materials to support the displaced, while engaging with residents to offer words of encouragement and solidarity.
Highlighting the urgent need for decisive action, Bagos called on both state and federal governments to tackle the root causes of the crisis. He stressed the importance of restoring peace, rebuilding devastated communities, and ensuring justice by holding those responsible for the violence accountable.
Reiterating his commitment to long-term peace and development in Plateau State, Bagos advocated for the safe return of displaced persons and the reconstruction of affected areas.
His visit comes at a time of heightened concern over renewed attacks on rural communities and the growing population of internally displaced persons. Local leaders and community members commended Bagos’ efforts, describing his gesture as a source of hope during a time of widespread despair.
The visit follows a similar intervention by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who recently pledged ₦1 billion to support victims of the violence in Plateau State
