First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Donates ₦1 Billion To Victims Of Violence In Plateau State
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦1 billion to assist victims of violent attacks in Plateau State. The support comes through her Renewed Hope Initiative and is entirely funded by private donations—no public funds were used.
She made the announcement during a town hall meeting held at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, where she met with community leaders, including traditional rulers, religious figures, women, and youth representatives.
“This visit is a deeply emotional one,” Senator Tinubu said. “Every time I hear of killings or disasters, it breaks my heart. I pray this will be the last time I visit under such tragic circumstances. Next time, I hope to return to celebrate peace and progress with you.”
The First Lady urged for an end to the ongoing conflict, appealing for unity, healing, and a renewed sense of national purpose. “As women, we give life—we do not destroy. But we are weary. We urge the men: protect us. Let our farmers go back to their land. Let our children grow up in peace,” she said.
She also encouraged traditional and religious leaders to transcend political and ethnic divisions in restoring the peaceful reputation Plateau State once held. Senator Tinubu commended Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his efforts toward peacebuilding and offered prayers for his continued leadership.
In response, Governor Mutfwang expressed deep gratitude, describing the donation as “a profound act of national compassion.” He lauded the Renewed Hope Initiative for its growing impact across Nigeria and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to end the cycle of violence.
“You are more than the First Lady,” he said. “You are a mother to the nation, deeply committed to easing the pain of the people.”
Also present was Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, who contributed 1,800 bags of 50kg rice to support vulnerable groups, especially persons with disabilities. The food aid will be distributed by the Plateau office of the Renewed Hope Initiative, headed by Barrister Helen Mutfwang.
