The Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission held a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) meeting with Directors of Social Services, welfare officers, information officers, mediators, and heads of women units from across the state. The meeting focused on improving case management, strengthening social protection, and addressing rights violations to promote peace, inclusion, and unity in Plateau State.
Participants reviewed current case management practices, shared data from their local government areas, identified gaps in service delivery, discussed challenges, and suggested practical ways to improve teamwork and performance going forward.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairperson of the Commission, Barr. Olivia Dazyam, thanked officers at the grassroots for their dedication and strong cooperation in promoting peaceful coexistence. She encouraged open discussions and the sharing of experiences and best practices, noting that while the challenges are many, joint efforts—no matter how small—can lead to real change. She stressed the need for passion, commitment, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Barr. Dazyam also called on Information Officers to step up awareness campaigns, especially in rural communities where many people are still unaware of existing laws and their basic human rights. She emphasized proper documentation, effective referral systems, and regular capacity-building to strengthen case handling. She urged participants to stay focused and committed, adding that the Commission’s work can only succeed through collective effort and sustained collaboration to reduce social vices and change the state’s narrative.
The meeting featured interactive discussions where participants shared experiences, raised challenges, and explored ways to improve efficiency and productivity in case management. Questions were asked and addressed to clarify issues and deepen understanding.
The session also included a goodwill message from the Deputy Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Kachollom Lucy Michael, who praised the Commission for its dedication and selfless service. She encouraged participants to remain passionate and committed to serving humanity.
