Journalists and members of the public were reportedly barred from entering the courtroom on Tuesday as former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, arrived at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for his alleged money laundering trial.
The restriction limited media coverage of the proceedings, although no official reason was given for the decision to deny journalists access.
El-Rufai arrived at the court premises in a Hilux vehicle and was subsequently escorted into the courtroom by security operatives.
In a video sighted by our correspondent, the former governor was dressed in a green babanriga with a black cap.
He appeared calm as he smiled and waved at supporters gathered outside the courtroom.
Security was beefed up around the court premises.
