The Plateau State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has strongly condemned the killing of innocent citizens in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, describing the attack as barbaric and heinous.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dunka J. Gomwalk, and Secretary, Julius Simon Arabo, the association said the attack, which occurred on March 29, 2026, claimed the lives of 27 persons, including a pregnant woman, while several others sustained injuries.
CAN noted that the incident took place on Palm Sunday, a significant period in the Christian calendar leading to Easter, and described it as a disturbing assault on innocent lives.
The association expressed condolences to the families of the victims and mourned those who lost their lives in the attack.
It called on government at all levels, as well as well-meaning individuals, to provide support to the injured and the bereaved families.
CAN also demanded a thorough investigation into the incident, urging security agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full weight of the law.
The body appealed to residents of affected communities to remain calm and exercise restraint, while cooperating with security agencies working to restore peace and order.
It further emphasized the need for vigilance and law-abiding conduct among citizens as efforts continue to address the security situation in the area.
