Nigerian singer and songwriter Bella Alubo has shared her thoughts on the relationship between music and cannabis, saying some songs can only be fully appreciated by people who smoke weed.
The Jos-born Afropop star made the remark on her official X handle, where she reflected on how certain sounds resonate differently with listeners depending on their state of mind.
In the post, Bella wrote:
“There’s some kind of music only weed smokers can enjoy & sober people can’t get on no matter how hard they try.”
Although the singer did not mention any particular artiste, song or music genre, the statement suggests that some musical compositions are better understood or experienced by cannabis users than by those who are sober.
Bella Alubo has built a reputation for expressing herself freely through both her music and social media posts. Her work blends Afropop, R&B and alternative sounds, often exploring themes of love, self-expression and everyday experiences.
The singer recently released her new extended play, Run It Back, a seven-track project that showcases her evolving artistry and songwriting.
