All Progressives Congress chieftains in Nasarawa State sent a serious warning to the state gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Ahmed Wadada.

In a statement to DAILY POST by Zamani Daniel and Ibrahim Tukur, the ruling party chieftains warned Senator Wadada against intimidating his opponents over his purported support by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the party stalwarts, Wadada’s purported closeness with the president will not fetch him victory.

“We know Mr. President to be a true democrat and a believer in upholding the wishes of the majority. This is why we are bothered and surprised that Wadada is boasting that Mr. President will hand-pick him ahead of more entrenched and popular aspirants.

“As the saying goes, democracy is a game of numbers. Anyone who thinks he is popular enough should market himself to the people. Let Nasarawa citizens and party members choose who is best for them. With direct primaries now adopted by stakeholders, aspirants should market themselves to the people rather than use crooked means to get endorsement,” they stated.

The development comes as incumbent governor Abdullahi Sule endorsed Wadada’s governorship aspiration.

Sule’s endorsement had stirred criticism in the ruling APC.

Senator Wadada was elected under the Social Democratic Party but recently resigned his membership from the APC.
