The Plateau State Government has filed terrorism-related charges against five suspects linked to the deadly Angwan Rukuba attack in Jos North Local Government Area.
The attack, which claimed dozens of lives, is one of the recent incidents that have raised concerns over insecurity in Plateau State.
The suspects were reportedly arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) between April 3 and April 10, 2026.
Those charged include Isa Umar Ibrahim, Auwalu Abubakar (also known as Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (also known as Yaroro), and Adamu Isa Alhassan.
They are facing charges ranging from criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism, culpable homicide, and illegal possession and dealing in firearms and ammunition.
According to court documents filed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Philemon Audu Daffi, four of the suspects allegedly conspired to carry out acts of terrorism.
The accused persons are said to have planned, organized, and supported the Angwan Rukuba attack that led to the deaths of over 30 people.
Adamu Isa Alhassan is facing separate charges of culpable homicide punishable by death, alongside allegations of illegal arms trafficking.
Court filings also linked him and other suspects still at large to attacks in Riyom and Jos South Local Government Areas between 2025 and early 2026.
The development follows the visit of President Bola Tinubu to Plateau State, where he met with victims and assured that justice would be served.
Meanwhile, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has condemned the killings, describing the violence as genocide and calling for urgent attention.
As legal proceedings begin, residents and observers say they will be watching closely to see if justice is delivered.
