Iran has issued a sharp reply to the threat of more bombardment by the United States and Israel amid peace efforts to de-escalate the weeks-long war.
Mohsen Rezaee, a former head of the Revolutionary Guards, warned on Monday that the destruction of Iran’s vital infrastructure will worsen the conflict.
“The response will no longer be ‘an eye for an eye,’ but ‘an eye met with head, hand, and foot,’” the senior official wrote on X.
He said the war will continue until all losses are compensated, economic sanctions are lifted, and international legal guarantees are secured to prevent further interference in Iran.
Rezaee’s post followed the comment by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who delivered a statement on Monday after speaking with President Donald Trump.
Netanyahu said Trump believes there’s an opportunity to leverage the achievements of the operation and realize the goals through “an agreement that will safeguard our vital interests.”
“We are continuing to strike in both Iran and Lebanon. We are smashing the missile program and the nuclear program,” he added, revealing Israel has eliminated two more nuclear scientists.
Speaking to Kyodo News, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said a ceasefire would not be accepted, but a “comprehensive and sustainable end to the war.”
Tehran, according to Araghchi, is also demanding compensation for the damage to its infrastructure as well as guarantees that the ongoing military operation will not be repeated.
