Nigerian Army Opens Online Registration for 91st Regular Recruits Intake (91RRI) – How to Apply – Matthew Tegha Blog

The Nigerian Army has officially opened online registration for its 91st Regular Recruits Intake (91RRI), welcoming applications from tradesmen and non-tradesmen across the country. The application portal will open on Sunday, March 30, 2026, and close on Saturday, May 17, 2026.

This annual recruitment offers young Nigerians the opportunity to serve as soldiers in the Nigerian Army.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be single Nigerian citizens by birth, with valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).
  • Names and dates of birth on NIN must match BVN and other credentials.
  • Be medically, physically, and psychologically fit per Nigerian Army standards.
  • Have no criminal convictions.
  • Hold at least four passes, including English, in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB/NBAIS (in no more than two sittings).
  • Tradesmen/women must possess a Trade Test or City & Guild Certificate.
  • Possess a valid birth certificate (or court affidavit of age).
  • Be aged 18–22 for non-tradesmen/women; tradesmen/women must be ≤26 years by June 30, 2026.
  • Meet minimum height requirements: 1.68m for males, 1.65m for females.
  • Apply using their state of origin, with valid certificate of origin.

Step-by-Step Guide to Apply

  1. Visit the Official Recruitment Portal: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng/
  2. Select Regular Recruit Intake (RRI) Option for the 91st intake.
  3. Read Eligibility Criteria carefully, including age, height, and educational requirements.
  4. Create an Account or Sign In using a valid email address.
  5. Fill the Online Application Form with accurate personal details, educational qualifications, NIN, BVN, and trade certifications (if applicable). Upload scanned copies of required documents.
  6. Review and Submit all information. Confirmation will be sent via email or shown on the portal.
  7. Print Your Acknowledgement Slip after successful submission. Completing online submission is mandatory.

Screening and Next Steps

  • Successful candidates will be invited for physical screening at centres in their states of origin.
  • Required documents for screening include: photo card, applicant declaration, parent/guardian consent, certification by Local Government Chairman/Secretary, certification by Divisional Police Officer, and guarantor form.
  • Screening includes physical fitness tests, medical examinations, and document verification.

Important Notes:

  • No pre-selection computer-based test.
  • Candidates must not bring electronic devices or recording tools.
  • Tattoos, body inscriptions, piercings (except tribal marks), or multiple ear piercings for females are prohibited.
  • Candidates must not belong to cults, secret societies, or fraternities.
  • All credentials will be verified; falsification will result in disqualification and police prosecution.
  • Bribery or attempts to circumvent procedures are strictly prohibited.
