The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has announced the release of its abducted pastor, Sunday Bobai Agang, expressing gratitude to God and members of the church for their prayers.
In a press statement dated March 28, 2026, and signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Dickson Auta, the church confirmed that Rev. Agang, who was earlier abducted by unknown gunmen, has regained his freedom and is now safe.
The statement described the development as a moment of immense joy and thanksgiving, attributing his release to divine intervention and the collective prayers of the ECWA family and the global Christian community.
“We thank God Almighty for answering the fervent prayers of the entire ECWA family and the global Church of Christ. This release is a testament to God’s faithfulness and the power of collective prayer,” the statement read.
ECWA also expressed appreciation to members and well-wishers who stood in prayer during the period of the cleric’s captivity.
However, the church noted that the incident underscores the growing challenge of insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the increasing cases of kidnapping. It warned that the trend poses a serious threat to national stability and the safety of citizens.
The church called on governments at all levels to take decisive action in addressing the situation, urging authorities to fulfill their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property.
“It is imperative that decisive and sustained actions be taken to dismantle the criminal networks behind these heinous acts and restore peace and security across the country,” the statement added.
ECWA further assured that it would continue to pray for peace and security in the country while advocating for the protection of all Nigerians.
