The Campaign Council of Senator I. D. Gyang has debunked reports circulating on some online platforms alleging that the senator has stepped down from the race for the Plateau North Senatorial District seat.
In a press statement issued on Monday, May 18, 2026, the campaign described the report as false, misleading and malicious, alleging that it was fabricated by individuals seeking to create confusion and attract political attention.
The council categorically stated that Senator Gyang has not withdrawn from the race and remains fully committed to his ambition of representing Plateau North in the Senate.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator I. D. Gyang has not stepped down for anyone and remains fully committed to his aspiration,” the statement read.
It further described the publication as a deliberate attempt to misinform party members, supporters and the general public, urging citizens to disregard the report in its entirety.
According to the statement, Senator Gyang remains a strong contender in the race, citing his grassroots support base, record of service delivery across Plateau North, and capacity to foster unity within the party.
The campaign council maintained that the senator’s aspiration remains focused and resolute ahead of the ongoing party primaries.
It also advised members of the public and the media to rely strictly on official communication channels and verified statements from the campaign team.
The statement urged all registered APC members in Plateau North to participate in the ongoing direct primaries being conducted by accredited party officials across wards in the district.
